Hello and welcome to our new family blog! I've decided I need a fresh start at blogging so we ditched our old one and have begun this new one! One thing I learned about myself with our old blog is that I am not a very good blogger at all, though I would like to be, so just bear with me. There may be times when I go for kind of a longer period without posting anything, but I will try my very hardest to keep this thing as up-to-date as I possibly can. :)
Probably the biggest thing that has happened to our family in the last week is that last Thursday Aidan turned 2 months old! Yay Aidan! In some ways, it's hard for me to believe that I am the mother of a 2 month old already, and then in other ways it feels like he has been here so much longer than that. On Friday we had an appointment with the pediatrician for his 2 month check-up. I was really anxious for this check-up because I've been a little worried that he wasn't growing as fast as he should be. Everyone who sees him tells me how small he looks, even friends of mine who had babies right around the same time I had Aidan. Plus, we actually did have a few troubles with him gaining weight in the first 2 weeks of his life, so I was worried that he still might not be caught up to what he should be at. (To make a long story short about his first 2 weeks, at his 2-week check-up he had only gained about an ounce or two since he had left the hospital, whereas he should've gained his birthweight back by then. We began supplementing him with formula and two days later he had gained a whopping 6 ounces! Problem solved!)
Anyway, I was pleased to find out that he now weighs in the mid 12 lbs and is 23 inches long! The doctor said that he's averaging in the 75th percentile for his height and weight, a MUCH better improvement than him being in the 10th percentile back at his 2-week check-up. This would have been a completely fantastic appointment if not for the fact that Aidan got a few shots while there. At first he took it really well, like a champ! He cried of course when he got the shots, but had quieted down a few minutes later and was asleep by the time we got to the car. But then, a few hours later, it became pretty crazy. He began screaming at the top of his lungs and was crying for what felt like forever. He also had a fever. He wouldn't eat or sleep, and nothing I would do would comfort him. You could tell he was just completely miserable. :( Finally when Phil got home from work, I left him at home with Aidan and ran down to Walmart to grab some Infant Tylenol. We gave him some of that and then just a short time later he finally would eat and then fell asleep. It was a crazy and pretty tough night seeing him like that, but at least we have the Tylenol on hand now so I'll be far better prepared for next time. :)
On another note, tomorrow my sister Miranda, her husband, and her two boys will be coming to visit us just for one night. Even if it is a short visit, I haven't seen them in a few years and I'm excited to see them again! I will be sure to update this about the fun we have tomorrow and Wednesday. Good night!
